Edwardsville Couple Makes $50,000 Donation to Leon Corlew Park in Edwardsville: Park Opens with a Splash

It was just a little over a week ago that the new Leon Corlew Park opened in Edwardsville and today another donation has been made to help fund the park.  Edwardsville residents Gordon and Holly Broom have pledged a donation of $50,000 to help fund the construction of the new family pavilion at the park. The Broom’s have lived in Edwardsville since 1971 and have been long-time supporters of various local organizations that have worked to make the Edwardsville community what it is today. Gordon Broom is a senior partner at Hepler Broom, LLC.

Leon Corlew Park is Officially Open!

The wait is over! On Friday, July 8, area children and families came out to make a splash at opening day for Leon Corlew Park and Splash Pad located in Edwardsville, Illinois. This park’s highly anticipated opening in the community was a huge success and was completed in part by the support of the A Better Place to Play campaign to bring more recreational facilities into the area.

City delays opening of Leon Corlew Park until July 8 for finishing touches

It won't be long until kids will be splashing and playing at the new Leon Corlew Park, Edwardsville's new splash pad located at the intersection of South Main and Schwarz Road. The opening date was originally slated for Fri., July 1, 2016 but the City would like to delay the opening a week to Fri., July 8 to test equipment, make sure new staff is properly trained and to insure all ADA features are in place at the park so it is equally accessible to all.

New Edwardsville Splash Park Officially Named

The new Spray and Play Park in Edwardsville finally has a name. The Edwardsville City Council approved the park’s name: Leon Corlew Park. Corlew served as an alderman on the Planning Commission and was also a member of the Edwardsville Rotary Club for 50 years.
